On a sunny, summer Saturday in 1990 all hell broke lose inside the Osco Store in South Bend Indiana. The store was robbed, leaving three dead and a mystery that lasted more than a decade before former employee, Charles Allen, was put on trial.
Was Allen responsible for the horrific robbery/murder? Or did South Bend police develop tunnel vision? Families would wait more than 10 years for an arrest and trial.
In 1989 Mary Gill and Jeanne Gilbert were overnight employees at Days Inn properties in Indiana. Gill worked at the Merrillville location, and Gilbert near Rensalear. In the early morning hours of Friday March 3, each property was robbed, the women assaulted and murdered.
As DNA technology improved the murders were linked with the 1987 slaying of Super 8 motel employee Vicki Heath and two additional assaults. This serial killer has never been identified.

On November 17, 1978 a robbery at the Burger Chef restaurant in Speedway Indiana went horribly wrong. It ended with four murders, two suspects and no arrests. The case remains open and unsolved.
