The Oakland County Child Killer – Part Two

This is the second episode in a series about the Oakland County Child Killer.

Between 1976 and 1977 four children were abducted and murdered. Mark Stebbins, Jill Robinson, Kristine Mihelich and Timothy King. They were held from 3.5 – 19 days. Their deaths were considered the work of a killer or perhaps a team of killers working together.

Forty years later and law enforcement is no closer to closing the case. We look at the victims, the crimes, the investigators and the families left behind.

If you would like to take a closer look at happenings around the periphery of the case:

  1. Negligence of adults is what allows these monsters do what they do best, whether it’s within the justice system or within a child’s own family. I will never understand why more is not done from the outset to punish pedophiles the way they deserve – life in prison, no parole, no second chances.

  2. Impressive podcast on a haunting case I have been following for quite a few years, from as far away as Europe.

I was especially struck with the way the bad endings happened for the major investigators of the case. Bad karma? Coincidence? Conspiracy cover-up? A few cases of very weird synchronicity seem to have occurred.

Has anybody ever looked into any possible clues the killer might have left in terms of the locations? For instance, the butcher of Mons – an unsolved Belgian serial killer case of the nineties- placed the bodies of his victims at streets that had typical names, with ‘death’ and ‘sorrow’ and ‘hate’ in it.

In terms of locations possibly meaningful to the serial killer, there were the double initial (or alphabet) child murders in Rochester, NY, in the 1970’s, which predated the Oakland County Child Killer case.

America’s nightmare wasn’t over by a long shot after the Oakland County Child killer stopped (and are we sure); the Atlanta child murders were about to begin in Georgia. Another very gruesome, unsolved case.

    Best regards!
